How to Use RSS Feeds

RSS feeds can scare the pants off of the internet newbie. And even the experienced internet user can shy away from using rss feeds because they appear intimidating.

If you have a wordpress blog you’ll automatically have an rss feed for the entire blog or each individual post. Internet Marketers and those selling goods and services online would be smart to consider using rss feeds to get their information to their website visitors and readers. The information in a rss feed isn’t sent via email….so it can’t get caught in the spam filters.

Check out Michelle Timothy’s book on Add RSS Feeds to Your Site Easily! Michelle is an expert with RSS and its many applications, I use many of her scripts and programs.

Here’s another very basic video on rss feeds. Take a couple of hours out of your day to understand rss feeds and set up a couple of feeds in a rss reader. Soon you’ll be addicted because it will save sooooo much time!

How To Use RSS Feeds

RSS is a way to check for updates to your favourite websites, without having to visit each site individually. We’ll show you how to use this great timesaver. How to use RSS Feeds effectively!

How to use RSS feeds
Step 1:
You will need

Step 2:
Choose a RSS program

To use RSS, you will need to use a RSS Aggregator, a single program that gathers information from all your favourite sites. If you use a lot of different computers during your day, a web-based RSS aggregator is a good choice. An RSS website like newsgator, or the RSS features found in internet portals such as yahoo and msn, puts your RSS feeds onto your own web page, accessible from any computer with an internet connection. If you use the same computer all day, an RSS aggregator built into your web browser, such as Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox, or a separate RSS aggregator program downloaded onto your computer, such as bitscast, would be a good solution.

Step 3:
Find a RSS feed

You can tell if a website has a RSS feed if it displays one of these three orange symbols. These are the link to the address of the website’s RSS feed. RSS symbols are usually found at the top of a website’s front page. Larger sites such as the BBC’s website, may have multiple RSS feeds for each section, such as separate news feeds for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Some browsers with RSS built in, such as Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox, will detect RSS feeds automatically.

Step 4:
Subscribe

To subscribe to a RSS feed, you need to copy its web address into your RSS aggregator. Some aggregators will automatically subscribe to a feed by simply left clicking on the orange RSS symbol or the aggregator’s own logo, which can often be found close by. Alternatively, right click on the orange RSS logo and left click on the ‘copy shortcut’ option, and then paste the address straight into your RSS aggregator.

Step 5:
View your RSS feeds

Now your RSS aggregator has the RSS feed’s web address, it will automatically check for new updates at regular intervals, you don’t have to do a thing. Depending on your program, you may receive the entire article, or the first few lines with a link to see the whole article online.

Internet History

The power of the press, was now in the hands of everyday people. The internet was about to change everything… the way we communicate, the way news would spread, and how we would get our information.

Six weeks later that same year, internet pioneer Ken McCarthy, organized the first conference ever held, that focused exclusively, on the commercial potential of the web.

1994 ==> Start of the Internet

Ken was the first to realize that, technology is the just the ride, content is and always will be king. Since those days, Ken has been hosting an annual internet marketing conference called “The System Seminar” training the worlds best internet marketers.

He’s watched the medium mature. He has watched the marketing space degrade into lazy opportunists, with dog pack mentality. But rather than join the beast, Ken has decided to fight back, with his new one day seminars, and this volley from his blog…

Ken’s Blog ==> http://kenmccarthy.com/blog/

“Most business owners are sales and marketing wimps, those who understand the art of selling get the playing field all to themselves.”

“Frankly, there’s nothing more annoying to a real entrepreneur than some twit with a pile of easy money, driving the prices of everything up, and stinking up the marketplace with his noise.”

“The best investment in good times, and the best investment in bad times, has always been the same thing: a smart, well run business, that’s in touch with marketing reality.”

“The only thing that keeps most people from enjoying the fruit of own their own successful business, is a lack of knowledge. Plenty of people are willing to work hard and they do – for other people. But hard work without an entrepreneur’s insight, and know-how, is a prescription for being on an endless treadmill.”

“So how do you get off the treadmill and profit whether times are good or bad? You invest in your most important asset: Yourself. You develop the most valuable real estate you own: The space between your ears.”

“Internet marketing is still the best shot, that the little guy has to get traction, and escape consensus mediocrity, and live life, on his or her own terms.”

Are you ready to join an intense, small group setting, conducted personally by Ken McCarthy, the single most effective trainer of internet marketers, in the history of internet marketing?

The Fastest Way to Get Links

The Fastest Way to Get Links

Question: What’s the fastest way to get links? Google said that any page, without at least one incoming link, is considered spam. So where do I get links in a hurry?

Answer: From your blog, or any web page that you own. >From someone else’s blog, an article submission, a press release, or a directory like Yahoo, or Starting Point.

It doesn’t really matter where the links come from. But it’s the quality of the link that has the most impact. The more PR (PageRank) and link popularity that a page has, the more of its “juice” that it will pass on to you.

For example, the “real” purpose of my blog, is to get deep incoming links to my main site. I post just a portion of an article on my blog, and then I deep link to the full story on my site. That way, all stories on my main site, have at least one incoming link.

In addition to the PR of the page hosting the link, what you say in the link is very important. Use your keywords in your links. They will build a Reputation for the pages that you link to. And that’s important for good SEO.

But if you don’t want to start your own blog, for incoming links, you can use a service like Duncan Carver’s Authority Site X, or Mike Liebner’s Article Underground, both of which include blogs, and provide incoming links.

Authority Site X ==>

Article Underground ==>

Each page that you create, generates more PageRank for your site. Sweet Google juice that you can aim however you want.

Remember… pages create PageRank, links distribute it. My tests show that 100 words, four or five short paragraphs, are enough to be considered a page worth spidering.

So blog often, and link the blog entries to the most important pages on your main site. That way, you’ll be spreading around that sweet Google juice, to the pages that need it the most.

When you are sending your message to them, do you hurry to get the sale or try to make a large sale first?

If you are selling to those who aren’t familiar with you, a big commitment from them is not a good idea.  This is also true if you are trying to sell a high price item.

Being too swift to capture the sale actually turns people off and increases their resistance to what you have to offer.

It works better to start off small and build trust before approaching a larger offer.  Once someone has turned you down, they are unlikely to buy anything from you.  In fact they will probably never visit your website again.

Take time to communicate with your customer and show you have their best interest at heart.

Show your customer value first.  You can do this by offering them something for free.  Give them information that is useful to them.  It doesn’t cost you anything to do this.  And the rewards can be substantial.

Make sure your customer sees the benefit in what you have to offer.  If they accept your free offer, they will see that you care about them, which increases their trust level. This is critical because we don’t buy from those we don’t trust.

Once they see you care, they will be more likely to make a simple purchase from you.  After this, larger backend sales to them will be easier.

So, remember to establish a relationship with your customer first.  It will go a long way.

To your success,

Michael Wolf

Which is Better Wordpress or Blogger?

There is  warfare occurring in the blogosphere, and it bears nothing to do with bloggers insulting one another on their various blog sites. The warfare is more or less dealing with dominance in the blogosphere through some of the distinguished, several good, and dozens of abominable blogging platforms. The mediocre newbie suddenly has “too many” alternatives to select from, and the conflict for blogging domination is more raging than ever.

At my internet site and blogging sites, i am forever asked in the interview “Is Wordpress more beneficial than Blogger?”. The reply, naturally, is “Yes”. But to actually realize why, it is crucial to consider both blogging programs side-by-side and ascertain which one you genuinely require. Here is a comparability scale:

1) How Easy is it to Set-up and Use?

Yep, it is a great deal easier to establish a blog on Blogspot.com and acquire your own Bloggger website. You can be completed ten minutes flat. When you are set-up you are able to begin posting at once. Whenever you desire to include a graphic designer’s touch to your blog, you’ll find dozens upon dozenz of blogger templates which are available free of charge. Installation of Wordpress notwithstanding could become a serious headache whenever you do not understand what you are doing. Because you are  hosting your wordpress blog on your own hosting setup, you’ll be commanded to download the installation files, next you’ll upload or ftp them to your server host, then you’ll establish and configure a database, then execute the configuration script.

Nevertheless, if you understand which type of hosting account to sign up for, make sure that you pick out one that includes Cpanel. If you have Cpanel, you are able to perform one-click installations, upgrade and removal of your Wordpress blog platforms.

2) Customization & Advanced Use

Blogger does not allow for categories. You cannot arrange your articles and posts into dissimilar focuses, unless you understand how to work on the platform code. Using Wordpress, not only are you able to include categories, you could also show each category differently on your main page. As a matter of fact using the right plugins you could even turn your Wordpress into a magazine-like information portal.

WPAdsenseBoxMedium.pngPublishing using Blogger really is a pain in the butt. It takes forever to publish/post articles, particularly whenever you are doing alterations to the complete website. When using Wordpress, publication is a good deal quicker, though whenever you encumber your system using all sorts of bells and whistles it can be just as tormenting. Using a Blogger account, you are able to include supplemental features such as “Shout Boxes” that improve fundamental interaction on your website. You can also acquire nice looking themes and cool little tools that you could add to the basic template files. Even so, you can’t do much more than that with Blogger.

When using Wordpress, you have no limits. As cliche as that might sound, you get so much more than just themes…such as, supplemental “plugins” and sophisticated tools and you are able to also broaden Wordpress to way beyond simply a blogging platform. Excitingly current talk is about applying Wordpress as a inclusive, user-friendly Content Management System or CMS.

4) Copyrights and Ownership of Content

I began with Blogger and I will not say that it is not usable. Soon after using Blogger I began to get frustrated and disappointed with Blogger, and here’s why: Google Owns Your Content….. Google possesses the authorization to close down your blogger account without any warning if they don’t approve of what you are blogging on. You do not possess total control over your own blog. Using Wordpress, you own the domain name and the blog is hosted on one’s own website. You’ve total control over your content.

Using the self-hosted edition of Wordpress (not Wordpress.com), you are free to write on anything you desire, and apply the software package in any capacity you desire. Yep, Blogger permits you to publish to your own domain name, but they still totally own the database that confines your blogging content! Do not forget that!

5) Search Engine Optimization and Traffic

There is this propaganda that because Google owns Blogger, they incline to prefer Blogger accounts. I won’t suppose that this is illogical, however from my understanding, there is no such discrimination.

I have heard as alot of accounts of becoming indexed quick and rating high up in search engines from both Wordpress and Blogger users. If the content is beneficial, the spiders will arrive.

Once you post in Blogger, you can only “ping” a fixed number of websites, whereas using Wordpress on one’s own domain you are able to ping as many blog directories as you desire, and you’ll begin experiencing additional traffic. Finally, I would state that Wordpress is just somewhat in front in terms of optimization for search engines, and establishing huge numbers of traffic.

6) Money-Making Potential

There is not a doubt that it is easier and quicker getting started using Google Adsense if you have a Blogger website. As a matter of fact you are able to directly apply for Adsense from inside your Blogger account. You shouldn’t be too surprised by that since Google owns Blogger!

With Wordpress, it could become tricky. A default installation is not adequate. You will require a few plugins and still a better theme to actually maximise the Adsense potential. But, this appears to be getting easier and there is even “Adsense income sharing” plugins around that let you share ad income with additional contributors and authors for your blog.

As you begin utilizing Wordpress to make your Adsense websites, you will shortly discover what I think. It’s something you must experience for yourself. I can tell you one thing though – once you start using Wordpress, you’ll never go back to Blogger.
