Here is a list of ten tips which will help you get started with blogging, and will get you started with excited and the desire to continue on with your new blogging adventure.

1 – Find Good Offline Book

This should be the first step for any new blogger. Go to Clickbank, find a good blogging book and print it out, find a good primer on blogging, and learn the basics before you dive in. You’ll be way ahead of the game if you start reading first.

2 – Make a copy of Your Blog

If you are going to use the free Blogger platform, always make sure you save your blog content. Blogger will sometimes delete blogs, and if you have your data backed up, you can quickly transfer to another platform.

3 – Write a post When Possible Day

The search engines love fresh content. Especially in the early days of a blog, it is vital to keep giving it to them. Once your blog is established, you can ease off a little, but even then a daily posting is better.

4 – Ping After Each Post

After you have posted to your blog, make sure you ‘ping’ your post. This will make the search engine spiders find your fresh content, which you need for a good ranking.

5 – Use A Sticky Post

If you are using your blog for marketing, it will pay off to have a ’sticky’ post that always remains at the top of the front page. This will contain the link to either a product of your own, or an affiliate product. Wordpress has all kinds of tools to make different pages show up on the front page all the time. In Blogger, simply date a post with a date a year into the future, and it will stay at the top.

6 – Use RSS

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it allows you, as a blog owner, to provide a “news feed” of your blog to prospective readers. People and search engines will find your blog quickly and you’ll start getting a ton of traffic.

7 – Always Use Social Bookmarking Sites

Social Bookmarking is big news. If your blog posts are of a high enough quality, you can pick up a massive amount of traffic this way. If you submit to a service called OnlyWire, this will do a lot of the work for you.

8 – Work On Getting Some Posts Ahead

Everybody’s life has some unexpected moments in it. Nobody can guarantee to write a blog post every single day. By having one or two in reserve, you can keep things going even at difficult times. With Wordpress, you can even get a plug in which will allow you to ‘queue up’ posts, so they are published automatically at a certain time.

9 – Proper Ad Placement can Make or Break You

research has proven that the first movement of the eyes on viewing a web page is towards the top, and to the left. This means it makes perfect sense to put your ads in those places. Just remember not to do anything to draw the reader’s attention to them, in contravention of Google’s TOS.

10 – Use Press Releases To Promote

As you are writing blog posts, you are producing content. It should not be difficult to rewrite some of that content into article form, and submit it to the main article directories. This is a tested and proven way of driving targeted traffic to your blog.

Hopefully these ten tips will lead to your blog taking off quicker than you had thought possible.

I like to use Power Article Rewriter to spin my press releases or articles into unique and readable articles. Power Article Rewriter is about $100, however the owner has stopped supporting this application….and the link for the spinning service below is comparable to power article rewriter!

I won’t get into the reasons for using spun articles but you need to know they can deliver some great traffic.

I ran into a website that offers free music. I appears as though there are a couple of different licenses available, but most of the material can be used for anything without violation of their terms and conditions.

You certainly could use it for background music for online videos.

You could use it for background music for audio recordings.

You could use it for intro and outro music for an audio or webinar presentation.

Looks like a huge collection of free music in countless number of musical styles.

I’ve been listening to a classical piano selection for the last couple of days as I work. Probably the second or third time in my life that I’ve listened to classical piano……I know, totally uncultured

What’s up with the “Add to Cart” payment button I’ve been seeing around for the last couple of months? Seems like more and more big time marketers are using this type of payment button on their sales pages these days. Come to find out….it’s for good reason

Once you see big name marketer’s using a technique that differs from the norm, you can bet that somebody has discovered a technique that increases conversions or sales…..and that means more profit! Be careful though, internet marketers tend to act a little like lemmings. Sometimes we copy techniques, colors, styles or fonts and before you know it everybody is doing it….problem is, that the change really was never proven necessary or successful.

Anyway…..I’ve been seeing everyone using this new “Add to Cart” button but couldn’t find much information about it. That’s all changed…thanks to fellow marketer Garrie Wilson…Behold we have the……………

Now we have “The Belcher Button”!

This is the button you’ve probably seen around that is orange in color and has “Add to Cart” for the text. You’ll also see the price above the button, both the regular price and the current price. Under the button you see another “Add to Cart”….this time in the standard hyperlink blue with an underline. Finally at the very bottom is a line of credit card images. Then the entire image is surrounded by a box composed of dashed lines.

Perry has tested his “Add to Cart” button or as he calls it, “The Belcher Button” on hundreds of sites in dozens of different markets. He has done explicit testing on the button and has found it to increase his closing rates from 35% to 320% over any other button around and he adds that he’s tested it in over 10,000 transactions.
