I’ve been doing some offline marketing for a while now with a good degree of success.
I’ve been trying different platforms for offline directories along with different formats. I’ve found that simply static sites made with Dreamweaver work well, simple to set up and easy to maintain. I’ve found that Directory Type sites work better with Xsitepro for a variety of reasons that have to do with the way that Xsitepro produces webpages. WordPress sites work well and are quick to set up…..I really haven’t found a favorite.
Actually, I think I do prefer one method of setting up directory sites for small towns and local businesses. I use a combination of Xsitepro and WordPress. The Xsitepro pages make up the front portion of the site and the WordPress pages make up the backend…..these pages can be automated with fresh daily news from rss feeds.
Anyway, I’m just starting a new minor directory called Mchenry Dentist Directory and its part of the hub for my BestofMchenry.com website. This is a small town however it has around 30 dental offices. Not sure how I’ll set this up yet, I might try this one starting out with a wordpress site and migrate toward a StudioPress theme. The idea is to first get the site ranked for Mchenry Dentists, next I’ll do some feature pages for some of the dentists. I’ll introduce myself by revealing the free advertising they are getting……ask them about their site, show them where the directory ranks and then offer my services to 3 maybe 4 of the dentists in the area.
I’ll post as I progress with the site….. kind of a case study in offline marketing.
