If you have used WordPress for any length of time you have undoubtedly heard of Brian Gardner and the StudioPress themes for WordPress. Brian began creating awesome looking WordPress themes that were highly sought after and used. Each year, more and more themes were developed for his StudioPress series of WordPress themes.
One problem with WordPress themes is that there are constant updates with the WordPress framework which often break current WordPress themes. So…. the WordPress theme developer must go back and recode all their themes or simply let them die or let the community do the theme upgrading. There are many people out there using a free StudioPress Theme or themes which work intuitively, however, for any customization you need an understanding of the Genesis Framework and you must understand that it is imperative that you do not edit the Genesis Theme framework but you can edit the Free StudioPress Theme.

Let’s say you have an authority blog and it has thousands of pages and posts. A new version of WordPress comes out and all of a sudden your theme is broke, site is down, income is lost and you literally have to hire a programmer to get your theme working again with the current version of WordPress. Well, Brian solved the problem of constant upgrades and broken themes by creating the Genesis Framework and StudioPress Child themes. The idea is that when there would be an upgrade or change in the WordPress framework, the only thing that would change is the Genesis Framework and that would not interfere with the current StudioPress Themes!
Since the inception of the Genesis Framework and StudioPress themes all genesis support was only available through being part of the paid membership of StudioPress. So, you might have a studiopress theme but you won’t know how to customize it or how it works with the Genesis framework.
It is a wise investment into StudioPress so you can have StudioPress Support, the forums are full of information and there’s nothing that can’t be done with the StudioPress Themes if you have access to Genesis Support and StudioPress Support.
