PPC Marketing Rules

Pay for click marketing, or PPC for short, is one of the most popular marketing tools on the internet market today.  It is one of the best ways for you to stretch your marketing dollars a little further.  When you have pay for click advertising on your site you will only have to pay when someone clicks on your site as well as visits your site.

Besides stretching your marketing dollars PPC will also allow you to create a strong name for your site. If you are offering a professional service you need to be sure that you appear at the top of the search engine to gain the traffic. If your competitor is at the top of the search engine and you are not you are losing customers and profits to them. PPC will help you go above your competitor on the search engines and take their customers and profits instead.

When you begin your PPC campaign there is usually six rules that you should adhere to.

1. Research and competitor analysis
• Before you begin your PPC marketing campaign you will need to conduct a thorough research of the target market that you are looking to target.  It is of great importance that you research your consumers behavioral as well as consumption habits where your industry is concerned. You will also need to discover how well your competitor is performing on the search markets.  Do a search engine search on keywords that you plan on using on your site and find out who your competitors will be and where they stand on these search engines.

2. Campaign Objective
• You will now need to decide what your campaign objective will be.  Is your campaign a way of increasing traffic to your site? Do you want to drive up sales on your E-Commerce site?  All of these objectives and any others that your are considering need to be put into your campaign objective.  This is what will help you create compelling advertisements to the get the results that you are seeking with your PPC marketing campaign.

3. Keyword List
• You need to create a list of possible keywords that you can use on your site. You need to realize that not every keyword will be helpful on your site. You need to try to avoid any unusual words that are not normally used.  You will need to do a considerable amount of research on your keywords to find ones that directly relate to your site.

4. Tests
• Once you have your PPC marketing campaign up and running you will need to test out the performance of your advertising.  Your competitors will be constantly trying to outbid you in an effort to outrank you on the search engines.  Therefore you need to be sure to test your site often to be sure that you are still in the top ranges of the search engines.   You will also need to delete the advertisements that do not seem to be working and replace them with bigger and better advertisements.

5. Track Performance
• You will need to monitor your PPC marketing campaign very closely.  When you are using PPC advertising you constantly will have competitors outbidding you in order to outrank you on the search engines. Also you should find out what keywords are not working for your marketing campaign and replace them with better and more powerful keywords.  This will help you drive even more traffic to your site over time.

6. Review
•It is important that you always perform a review of the performance after a PPC campaign has ended.  This is how you will discover what you will need to work on in the next campaign as well as any mistakes that you may want to correct on the next go around.

When PPC is done correctly it can be a very powerful advertising marketing campaign.

How To Choose Your Keywords Carefully

When creating an SEO website, keywords are one of the most important parts to creating a site that ranks high on the search engine. The keyword is what the web crawlers attach on to and use to show your business on the search engines. Although keywords are the most important component to any SEO website it is the one that is most often neglected or used in the wrong manner. There a few things that you can do to make your keywords work and stand out.

1. Your target audience
-Who will your target audience be? Think about your website and the type of people you wish to attract. Also you will need to decide what the primary purpose of your website will be. Both of these will come in handy when creating your keywords in your SEO. They will also become one of the most important factors to consider.

2. Make a list
-Write down a few words that you think people might type into a search engine. Make sure these words relate to your business. Be creative when you are making your list. The more keywords you come up with the better off you will be when you begin to create your SEO website. There is software that is available that will aide you in creating your keyword list. Also when you are creating your keyword list think back to rule number one and consider your audience and the purpose of your site.

3. Think about the pages
-Think about the pages that you will be using in your SEO site. Each page will need its own distinct three to four word title or phrase that is related to your site. As you create your page titles you will need to include the title of your site as well somewhere in the tag.

4. Using your keywords
Your keywords need to be used throughout each page of your site. These keywords need to be put in sensible places to prevent a black hat SEO. A black hat SEO is unethical and can get you banned from search engines.

5. Be creative
-It definitely takes a lot of work to create your keywords but well worth it in the long run. The better your keywords, and the more creative, the better your search results to visitors will be. So being creative is a very important tool.

There are some additional tips that can be used when creating your keywords for your SEO site. First of all yes it is important to be creative but you will also need to be choosy at the same time. Second is to check out your competition. Try not to choose words that might appear to be too competitive and therefore will lower your rankings on the search engines.

Finally if you wish to use any unusual keywords on your SEO site use them sparingly. If it is an unusual word then the possibility of it being searched is very low. If you remember to be creative and persistent you will have a great SEO site in no time.

Free Google keyword Tool Updated

If you’ve been on the net for a while, you’ve undoubtedly have seen a variety of free keyword tools. Most of these tools give you info that you can gain for free, some compile information so that the data is more understandable and reveals keywords or long tailed keywords that you can use for targeting your blog posts and/or articles if you are doing article marketing.

Just do a search for “Free Keyword Tool” on google…you’d be surprised what you can dig up. These tools are of some use, but for the most part you don’t get anything you couldn’t get with typing your term into Google’s search box and using the free version of Word Tracker.

google keyword tool and micro niche finder for keyword research

For me I think one of the most valuable free keyword tools has been Google’s External Keyword Tool. I’ve used it to quickly find valuable keywords, and to find keywords that have little competition for Adwords, while conversely you can use it to find keywords that pay well for Google Adsense. So its been a valuable tool.

The only thing missing from Google’s keyword tool has been the actual number of monthly searches.

Now the Google External Keyword Tool gives you the previous month’s average search volume and you get the average search volume for the past 12 months. You can also start your search by using the Exact, Phrase, Broad, and Negative variation of your keyword.

Finally Google has revealed their average searches and monthly searches for keywords discovered in their External Keyword Tool. This is BIG! Monthly search volume provided by Google is like being invited behind the magic curtain. Google has kept this information secret for a long time, now finally, we can go right to the horses mouth and discover the previous months search volume for a term along with the yearly average search volume for that term.

If you don’t use this information to write your articles and blog posts….then you clearly don’t understand how to use keywords correctly and how to do keyword research!

Make sure you bookmark Google External Keyword Tool and give it a try. At the very least continue to use your favorite keyword tool in conjunction with the external keyword tool and compare the results.

I use Micro Niche Finder to locate long tailed keywords that are specific to the niche, article, blog post or squido page that I am creating. I look for keywords that have a low monthly search volume and is found on a low number of webpages. Micro Niche Finder allows me to dig up these keywords and you’d be surprised how fast you can get your article, blog post, or squido page on the first page of google.

Now I can use the external keyword tool to dig just a little deeper and expose some of those gems. As you can see in the above screen shot, I used public domain as the search term and exposed many niches that could be exploited.

As an example I looked at ‘public domain illustration’ and found that with a “Broad” search it comes up an average of 720 times a month. If I then go to google and search on ‘public domain illustrations‘ with quotes around it, I’ll discover about 1,080 webpages have this exact phrase. It would be a piece of cake to get your article or blog post on the first page of google. With a little work, you could be in number one position.

Using Micro Niche Finder and the above information will even allow you to dig further and find that low hanging fruit, or long tailed keywords that will make you some good money over time.
